Partnership PhD
Industry employers will undertake a PhD project co-developed with the University of Glasgow and aligned to the research needs of the company. They will spend the majority of the PhD with their employer while receiving support from an industrial and academic supervisor.
Industry Scholarships
Match-funding for some scholarships is available from the Graduate School and industry partners can also fully-fund PhD projects in areas of interest. the research areas in which we can provide funding/supervision are extensive.
James McCune Smith PhD Scholarships
The James McCune Smith Scholarships fund Black UK domiciled students to undertake PhD research at the University of Glasgow. The scholarships provide an enhanced experience through external mentors, placements, leadership training, community-building activities and networking opportunities.
Centres for Doctoral Training
Our Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) fund and train doctoral students to support key priority research areas where there is a national need for cohort-based doctoral training. CDTs are flagship multidisciplinary programmes supporting innovation, skills development, and responsible leadership.
More opportunities
Integrated Placement PhD
PhD students are matched with Small or Medium Enterprises (SMEs) that provide industrial supervision to support them throughout their doctoral studies. Students are also expected to engage in a funded six-month placement within the partnering company.
Placements and Travel Grants
We offer several flexible opportunities for companies to host student placements or provide funding for travel grants.
