College Futures PhD Programme

In line with our MVLS 2033 vision, the College Futures PhD Programme is an MVLS-funded programme supporting up to 12 PhD studentships inspired by four exciting new College Futures themes.

About the Programme

The MVLS College Futures PhD Programme will fund up to 12 PhD studentships, each providing 3.5 years of funding at UKRI stipend rates, home fees coverage, and up to £17.5k for consumables. Starting in October 2025, these studentships will be for research aligned with the four MVLS 2033 themes:

Timeline and Eligibility

We will open our admissions portal for applications for this programme in mid-October 2024 with a closing date of early January 2025.

Eligibility

Studentships are only available for home-based students.

Applicants must have obtained or be about to obtain a degree in a relevant subject.

All candidates must complete an application and submit through the application portal, which will be linked when recruitment for the programme opens in October 2025.

Recruitment information form

All candidates must complete and upload a 2025 Recruitment Information Form to the application portal. This is the only form that will be used to shortlist candidates, therefore if not uploaded, candidates cannot be put forward for shortlisting.

The reason for this is to reduce the impact of unconscious bias in recruitment. We therefore ask that when completing this, please only provide the information requested. Information not relevant at this stage includes name, gender, ethnicity and/or nationality, names of Institutions where you attended or trained.

To ensure that the Recruitment Form can be matched with your application, please ensure that you add your application number (generated when you start an online application) to the recruitment form.

Timeline

Applications will be shortlisted between mid-end January 2025 with candidates being advised of the outcome early February. Whilst dates have not yet been set, we imagine that interviews will take place in mid-late February 2025.
