Zoom
Zoom is software that can be used to create a 'virtual classroom' with in-built tools such as: chat messaging; sharing screen space; and live audio and video feeds, enabling communication between staff and students, and students and their fellow 'classmates'.
A big benefit of Zoom is that the students can see their lecturer and fellow students and therefore connect with them on a more personal level (and re-assuring them that that there are real people on the course and it's not just a computer running things!). Sessions can be recorded on the cloud and then accessed at a later date.
Staff and students can setup an account via the UofG instance.
Zoom can be accessed via computer or mobile (Zoom cloud app from App Store or Google play).
Zoom is supported by the IT helpdesk.
