I am struggling – what do I do?

Please visit Student Wellbeing & Financial Support here you can find information about where to go to and what to do for issues of mental health, disability, and financial support.

Who can I contact for help? Who do I contact about academic issues?

The Arts and Humanities Advising & Wellbeing Team is always available and will direct you to an appropriate University Service (such as Disability Services, Student Services, Financial Aid Team, Counselling and Psychological Services). You may also go directly to see them. For academic issues:

  • If your query concerns specific courses (for example, what are the set texts for the Philosophy 1A course?): go to the relevant Course Convener or Course Administrator. If your query has to do with change of direction in your degree (change of academic plan): contact the Arts and Humanities Advising & Wellbeing Team (COAH-Advising-Wellbeing@glasgow.ac.uk)
  • If you are considering withdrawal from the University or transfer to another College: contact the Arts and Humanities Advising & Wellbeing Team (COAH-Advising-Wellbeing@glasgow.ac.uk)

Pre-Honours queries (Years 1 & 2)

If you have a query at pre-Honours level about any aspect that relates to your studies (for example, you may wish to discuss a general academic issue you have regarding course choices or a specific administrative problem regarding MyCampus or a wellbeing issue), all you need to do is contact the Arts and Humanities Advising & Wellbeing Team, by email or by phone and explain the situation. We can also advise you on:

  • Readmission into the College of Arts & Humanities
  • College transfers
  • General advice and information
  • Information regarding College policies
  • Repeating a year in the College of Arts & Humanities
  • Updating your student record in MyCampus
  • Withdrawal from the University

If appropriate, we will forward your message to a Senior or Chief Adviser or ask one of the Advisers to make an appointment with you by telephone, face to face  or video call.

If, on the other hand, you have a specific academic issue with a particular course (for example, submission of coursework or information about set texts and reading lists), the right person to contact would be the convener or the administrator of the course in question. Honours queries

Honours-related academic queries (for example, selection of Honours courses, induction meetings at Honours level, information about set texts and reading lists for Honours courses or specific regulations that pertain to your Honours subject-area or submission of coursework) and any wellbeing issues should be addressed in the first instance to the relevant Honours convener or Honours administrator in the relevant subject area. They will deal with your query and only refer your case to the Arts and Humanities Advising & Wellbeing Team in situations relating to:

  • Academic plan change
  • Progression from Junior to Senior Honours
  • Requests for a repeat year or for re-admission into the College of Arts & Humanities
  • Requests for change of status (full time/part time), and similar issues which need to be dealt with at College level rather than at subject-area level
  • Junior Year Abroad queries should be directed to Go Abroad or your Honours administrator.
  • Language Year Abroad queries should go to your Honours administrator.
