Arts Lab for Postgraduates
Postgraduate students are warmly invited to participate in activities organised by our Labs and Themes, which are collaborative research groups supported by Arts Lab. They cover a wide range of topics, from Games and Gaming to Textual Editing. Each group has its own webpage, and you are welcome to contact the co-directors if you'd like to join one of the groups. PGR students are also eligible to become directors of Labs and Themes, alongside members of academic staff.
The Arts Lab Workshop programme is primarily focused on staff development. Some workshops are open to all, and may be appropriate for research students, particularly those in the later stages of their projects. For instance, we run sessions on applying for postdoctoral fellowships, and on the Research Excellence Framework. You will not be able to register on HR CORE as staff members do, so please email the person presenting the workshop to ask about joining.
For prospective PhD students: if you are applying for a studentship: for instance, for those offered by the Scottish Graduate School in Arts and Humanities, then do consider whether your topic relates to that of any of our Labs or Themes. If it does, you can request some input into your application. They might for instance be able to help you describe the research communities at Glasgow which can offer informal support for your project. You can download a Contact List here to find an appropriate email address.
