Does digital technology hold the key to helping us to connect with the past?

This episode we’re visiting Viking settlements and even a gaol with digital archaeologist, Dr Gareth Beale. He shares how archaeologists today are using digital technology to create immersive experiences at heritage sites and museums to help us form deeper connections to the past.

Gareth Beale is Lecturer in Digital Archaeology at the University of Glasgow. His research concerns the development and experimental application of creative digital media practices within an archaeological setting. His background is in archaeological computer graphics and archaeological visualisation and he is currently exploring the use of interactive and immersive film making within an archaeological context.
