17th Century fittings fully refurbished
The University’s Estates and Commercial Services team has completed a project to restore the Humanity Lecture Theatre on the University’s Gilmorehill campus to its former glory.
The conservation work on the university’s most historic lecture theatre refurbished the 17th Century pews, which were taken from the original University campus on Glasgow’s High Street.
The University also worked with conservation architects Simpson and Brown and HLM to choose new soft furnishings and refresh the paintwork in line to match the original colours.
The work also included light touch restoration was completed to pews and timber flooring which has emphasised details such as numbering to pews which had been lost over time, ensuring future generations of students are able to benefit from the unique facility.
