Are you a quantum researcher who is interested in exploring new facets of their work through a creative collaboration?
Or an artist who would like to explore quantum technologies through their practice while working directly with a quantum researcher partner?
Would you be interested in finding out how you can access funding for projects (up to £10k) for art/quantum collaborations?
As part of the SFC-funded Alliance for Research Challenge (ARC) in Quantum Technologies we would like to invite Expressions of Interest in participating in the first Art/Quantum Incubator – a networking event and research day aimed at facilitating collaborations between artists and quantum researchers to precipitate new creative responses to emerging quantum technologies.
As part of the research day, you will hear from curators working across art and science including Ariane Koek, Initiator and founder of Arts at CERN which she directed from 2009- 2015, and Sarah Cook, founder of LifeSpace, Scotland’s first dedicated art-science research gallery. You will have the chance to network with artists and creative producers, and hear perspectives from quantum scientists on the societal implications and applications of quantum technologies.
To promote effective dialogue, spaces at this initial event are limited to 30 participants and attendees would be expected to join for the whole day.
Who we are looking for:
· artists who are open to working experimentally and collaboratively to explore the quantum space.
· those working in the quantum technologies space who are keen to explore the potential creative possibilities of their work.
You don’t need to have any experience in working in an arts science collaborative space, though this might be beneficial.
You also don’t need to be a particular type of artist – we are open to participation from visual artists, performers, musicians, sound artists, creative writers, sculptors, puppeteers… to create diverse and contrasting creative responses to exploring quantum tech.
Likewise, you can be working in any area of quantum technologies.
We welcome participants from all career stages and particularly encourage engagement from early career researchers.
The ARC will provide catering on the day and travel expenses for those not based in Glasgow (providing they begin their journey in Scotland).
