Chancellor's Fund

The Chancellor’s Fund supports innovative, exciting projects that have an impact across the University and wider community. Established in 1999, it has since funded over 550 projects from the generosity of our graduates and friends – like the Boar Brothers who raised £250k for charity by rowing across the Atlantic!

COVID19 Fund

In April, the UofG COVID-19 Response Fund was launched in an effort to support critical research and student hardship. Since its launch, the fund has helped researchers at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) on the sequencing of the virus. Gifts to this Fund have allowed the CVR to purchase a vital piece of equipment which  enables researchers to more rapidly sequence samples. The  UofG  COVID-19 Response Fund has also helped students facing unprecedented financial hardship to meet their rent payments, cover basic food expenses and heating bills. A huge  £1,277,176 had been awarded from the Student Hardship Fund to 2,141 students.

Campus Development

The University of Glasgow has been at the forefront of change, excellence and innovation for over 560 years. We are investing in the transformation of our campus to ensure that we evolve to meet the needs of our community of world-class students, faculty, staff, and researchers. With your support we can remove physical boundaries and completely open our estate to the people of Glasgow. 

IntoUniversity

IntoUniversity centres offer programmes which support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attain a university place or other chosen aspiration. The University of Glasgow, in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and IntoUniversity, is helping fund three new centres in Scotland which will host these programs. The impact of this support will create a wider benefit not only for the individuals, but also for their families and communities, the universities or colleges they might attend, and for society as a whole.

Beatson Pebble Appeal

The Beatson Pebble Appeal not only helped build a new world-class cancer research facility, the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre, but it has brought together researchers from around the world. Many studies emerging from this new centre are having big impacts - like Dr Daniel Murphy’s team who have identified a combination of drugs that can treat lung cancer effectively.

Paul O’Gorman Leukemia Research Centre

The Paul O’Gorman Leukemia Research Centre ("POG") is one of UofG’s innovate cancer research institutes. Some of the POG research programmes are helping identify novel therapeutic targets against leukaemic stem cells and exploiting these targets in clinical trials – like Dr Keeshan’s work, which made an exciting breakthrough in childhood leukemia!

James McCune Smith Building

After being refused admission from other universities on account of his race, James McCune Smith was accepted by UofG in 1832 and became the first African American to receive a medical degree! Our newest building on campus is named after Dr Smith and is nearly complete! Once opened, it will be an inclusive space where all students can congregate for their studies! It will provide a state-of-the-art learning & teaching facility for over 2,500 students.

Vet Fund 

The Vet Fund was established to help our furry friends! Donations help raise funds for equipment, research, vet scholarships, or other priorities like the Small Animal Hospital which provides the most sophisticated services in Europe 24/7 from some of the best specialist vets in the world.

Medical Fund

UofG is a well-known centre for world class research into the diseases and conditions that affect many of us and our loved ones. Through the Medical Fund  you can support areas of medical research you care about across 14 key research themes like Heart Disease, Immune & Inflammatory Diseases, Cancer, Diseases of the Nervous System. Donations help medical research initiatives like Prof Andrew Tobin’s team, who are testing drugs which treat Alzheimer’s disease!

Scholarships

Scholarships help support our brightest students from all fields to complete their research, studies, and academic travels. Often the support is not just about the money, it is about alleviating financial burdens which may cause students to stop or pause their studies.
