Closure of the Network – the UofG’s online alumni and student networking platform
The Alumni team at the University of Glasgow has been re-evaluating the services we provide to our alumni community. We strive to ensure our programmes and benefits are led by the needs and wants of our alumni.
Over the past four years, we have worked hard to provide a unique online networking platform for our alumni community. Whilst the Network has been a useful resource, feedback and data shows us that the platform is no longer serving the alumni community in the best way and is increasingly underutilised. For this reason, we have taken the decision to close the platform and concentrate our efforts in the areas that will have the biggest impact for the whole community.
Please be reassured that before taking this difficult decision we considered every option and the impact this may have. We are confident that by concentrating on the platforms where we know most of our alumni are already active users, like LinkedIn, we will be able to provide the best possible service.
The Network formally closed on the 20th of December 2021. In the meantime, we will be focusing on ensuring a smooth transition to alternative services. We also encourage you to join our LinkedIn Group which already has over 13,000 users and where we will be sharing important information and updates going forward.
