1979 Physiology Reunion
Published: 8 August 2024
The Physiology class of 1979 celebrated their 45th anniversary since graduating from the University of Glasgow.
We met in the Undercroft on the afternoon of Saturday, 20th July. We walked through torrential rain to the old West Medical Building (now the Sir James Black Building) where we spent most of our time during our Junior and Senior Honours years. Godfrey still has an office (with a superb view of the park and the Art Gallery) and lab space in that building. Although the building has been chopped and changed over the years, there were still areas that brought back memories.
Godfrey organized a Zoom meeting with one of our old teachers, David Miller. It was lovely to chat and reminisce whilst drinking Dom Perignon champagne. Such a treat.
All of us, save Godfrey, are now retired. Godfrey is Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology, John and Mark continued in scientific research roles after graduation, Chris was a clinical oncologist, I went into clinical research and then had roles in HR and management in the pharmaceutical industry, and Cameron went on to senior business management roles in the pharmaceutical industry. I think we all had interesting careers.
We schlepped through the rain to The Ubiquitous Chip for a lovely meal. The conversation flowed and the years melted away.
