I'm studying economics and economic social history.

Why did you choose to study at the University of Glasgow?

Having grown up in the Glasgow area, and regularly visiting the west end throughout my childhood, the University of Glasgow has always been ‘the University’ to me. It was natural therefore that I wanted to come here to study. Also, as an economics student, studying the subject at the institution where Adam Smith spent so much time was also an important attraction.

How has your time at Glasgow changed you?

University has had a big impact on my life. It has exposed me to new ideas and cultures, but has also given me the opportunity to shape the path I want to follow in the years to come.

What are your ambitions following graduation?

I want to use what I learn at University in a positive and constructive way. In particular I would like to use my knowledge of economics to pursue a career with the government or with third sector organisations. I am particularly interested in the economics of international development and how economics can be used to tackle wealth and other inequalities in Britain.

What would you like to say to the alumni who have helped you?

The support I have received from my scholarship has helped me not only to pay for course resources, but to meet my living costs. Without the additional support I receive from my scholarship I may have been unable to attend university in the first place. I am incredibly grateful for the support I continue to receive from the scholarship programme and I know that any contribution you make is invaluable to many at the University.
