Alumnus named Gaelic Ambassador of the Year

Dr Alasdair Whyte, a singer from the Isle of Mull has been named Gaelic Ambassador of the Year
Dr Alasdair Whyte (MRes 2012) was awarded his PhD in Celtic and Gaelic at the University of Glasgow for his research on the place-names and history of his home island. He also received a Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Research Fellowship award while at University.
At The Royal National Mod on 11 October 2019, Dr Alasdair Whyte was named Gaelic Ambassador of the Year. The award was presented by MSP John Swinney for his continued commitment to progressing Gaelic language and heritage.
Alasdair said “I feel very fortunate to have the chance to promote our language and culture and raise the issues I care about most in this role over the coming year.”
