Professor Bob Stamps

Robert Stamps joined the SSP group as Professor of Solid State Physics in January, 2011. His work is in the area of condensed matter physics, on topics that include Brillouin light scattering theory, nonlinear excitations in magnets, spin and charge transport in magnetic metals, and electromagnetic excitations in nanostructured media. His main interests at present are: unusual 'creep' phenomena discovered recently in low dimensional magnetic systems; and ordering processes in a new class of frustrated and disordered systems called 'artificial spin ice'.
