Radostin Simitev awarded a Leverhulme Research Grant
Radostin Simitev was awarded a Leverhulme Research Project Grant for the project “Two-layer thermo-compositional dynamo models of the geomagnetic field” (£147,661; 2013-2016).
Stratification of the Earth's outer core has been recently inferred from seismic observations but its physical mechanism is not fully understood. The project will investigate the role that thermo-compositional convection plays in the processes of spontaneous layer formation and magnetic field generation in the Earth's core.
