Friday 29th October, 2010

The Glasgow Initiative for Trial Evaluation and Design (GIFTED), which is a collaboration between the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the Robertson Centre for Biostatistics, Public Health and the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, followed up on last year's successful event with a symposium at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on 28 October 2010 with speakers fom the pharmaceutical industry and academia. Topics covered ranged from designing trials for rare diseases to changing health care practice via designing drug development programmes, measurement in stroke trials, predicting events in survival trials, missing data, pharmacoeconomics and pharmacokinetics. The symposium was followed by a one day course on clinical trials that attracted delegates from all over the UK but also from as far afield as Ireland and the Netherlands.
