Active Travel Spring 2023

Welcome to our programme of active travel activities for Spring 2023!

As the weather gets warmer and perhaps friendlier, we would like to give our staff and students the opportunity to take part in some walking and cycling focussed activities. We hope to encourage all to consider more walking and cycling, and how this fits in with a less car-dependent lifestyle whilst also being beneficial to your health & wellbeing.

Our planned activities include cycling training, a led ride, bike maintenance workshops and Dr Bike sessions, e-bike trials, talks, fitness walks and guided walks to learn more about the campus.

All events are free.

Active Travel Spring co-incides with Glasgow Goes Green's Green Week (13th - 19th March) - a festival of events under the theme 'Let Glasgow flourish'. We include walking activities organised by them into our daily listings.

When you are ready (within the same session, or  may be after 2, 3 or more) the final stage is to add the pedals and you will be cycling! More sessions are then recommended to refine your control of a bike.

"Introduction to On-Road Cycling" is for those who know how to cycle, but have little experience or knowledge of how to safely cycle on the road. You will be introduced to general best practice, as well as common scenarios (such as navigating junctions) and the routines for dealing with them. All activity will take place on quiet streets.
